Scanics history

2000 - Scanics, was founded by Don Mapes and two ambitious business partners.

2001 - Scanics offered document imaging services (conversion of paper to digital documents) to our customers in Champaign County.

2003 - Scanics initiated a marketing campaign to attract customers throughout the state of Illinois.

2008 -Scanics added Xerox Product Sales, Oversize Document Scanning and CD/DVD Duplication to its list of company services. Don Mapes bought out the other two Scanics business partners to become the sole managing partner and renamed the company, Scanics of Illinois, LLC.

2010 - Scanics developed a cloud-based data storage called SILO to store and access digital documents.

2011 - Scanics began marketing its document imaging services including microfilming to government customers.

2014 -Scanics added document shredding and destruction to its company services which enabled Scanics to manage customer documents from document native formats to the destruction of the paper documents.

2024-Scanics was bought from Don Mapes by Kimberly Powell. Scanics has added lamination and printing services to its company services.

About Kimberly Powell

Before Kimberly bought Scanics, Kimberly worked closely with Don Mapes for 2 1/2 years at Scanics as the General Manager. Prior to this Kimberly worked 19 years for Walgreens Accounting holding several different job titles during this time. Before Kimberly’s Walgreens career she worked in retail and the Healthcare field working in Nursing Homes and Hospitals shortly after graduating school.
